Want To Create Your Own Children’s Book?

As a parent, I am always trying to find a way to make a positive impact on my children. I want them to know that they can achieve anything they want.

“This life is ours to live. We need to show our children that anything can be achieved.”

My son was sat on his bed with me during covid, trying to explain why he believes he was going to beat me at Fifa. In the midst of his speech, he told me that he had a good book idea.

Immediately I felt like this could be a good project to keep him engaged and productive throughout the lockdown. This was right up my alley, creativity is something I love and seeing him interested, sparked this whole idea.

I am always trying to get him to read more and anytime I can mention books in a conversation I do, even when we are playing video games.

Anyway, I digress. He had a story idea for a book. This was out of the blue but a great surprise for me. It I was the perfect moment for me to teach my son and show what can be achieved with just an initial random thought.

He continued to explain the outline of the story. His idea was brief but vivid. It needed a moral so I ensured that it had one that him and anyone who would read it could take away a valuable lesson.

The whole process was so liberating and meaningful. My son and I working to create something that the average person does not do with their children. This is something we really need to understand. By doing this we are placing our children in a position to better their life, to better their future.

Imagine your child being an author at such a young age. Some people are well in their adult years before they even think about writing a book, let alone writing one.

It took us a good few years, not the writing but the development of the book. Finding the illustrator was quite easy but paying for it did take a while. The main thing is to not let the finances get in the way. Don’t be scared or put off by what i have just said. It is not that it cost a lot of money. It was very achievable each month but i didn’t want to commit to too much and then stop the process.

After completing the book and having it printed, my son was over the moon and really proud of himself. It gave me a feeling that I can’t explain. I guess I felt like the best parent in the world at that point. Then I decided that more parents need to have the opportunity to do this with their children.

When i started I didn’t know where to begin but I was lucky enough to be in the creative field that I had a vague idea of what needed to be done, but I know not everyone is in the same boat.
